Spinning the web of life
Since May this year I have a "house-spider". It´s a big, fat, black thing, living just above my bedroom window. When Mum met Frau Spider for the first time, she was totally terrified and her first reaction was to "clean it away", with cobweb and all. Here I have to mention, that my dear Frau Spider has slowly extended her domain and soon her web was hanging in front of half of my window as a curtain. I explained to Mum, that Spider feels secure there, it´s her home, it doesn´t really bother me and that I don´t have the heart to evict her. After all, she did keep my bedroom bug- and mosquito-free, and this year I haven´t had any daddy-longlegs either. Also, it gave me pleasure to watch the raindrops or dew sparkle on the web in the last raises of the late afternoon sun. Since my Mum knows me quite well, she knew that it was useless to argue. Of course, she tried with one last " but-what-if-she-creeps-in-to-your-room?" but I just answered: why should she? She likes it out there. So that was the end of the discussion.
Few weeks ago, the last night before going to Greece, I got wakened up around 2 a m, because of some strange, rustling noise. I knew instinctively who it was. It was very warm weather and I was sleeping with the windows open, so it was only a matter of time until I found Frau Spider in my laundry basket. I found her act a tad intrusive, and I just wasn´t in the mood for sharing my place with lots of baby-spiders, so gently I put Frau Spider on the windowsill and explained to her, how we both have to respect each others territories, otherwise war could be the result.
On Alonissos a colleague of mine took my case and thought that I might need a so called spider-remedy, namely Tarentula hispanica. Within homeopathy we do work with the most peculiar remedies, so I didn´t find it strange at all.
When I came home, I noticed, that one more spider was inhabiting another window, but on the opposite side of the apartment. That got me thinking whether I really should reconsider and start cleaning up the place.
Having said all the above, I haven´t seriously been reflecting about the fact, that spiders seemed to invade my life and that they might have something to say, before last night, when reading in my We´moon calendar came across the following:
Spider, Keeper of the Web of Life
Spider comes to us when we become conscious of our need for change. Invisible until the dawn´s light comes through the dark night of uncertainty, she reveals the brilliance of her dew-drenched web. Spider calls, "Wait patiently with me in this calm center, knowing that all you require has been woven into your life´s web along the weft of the lives of all the other beings, seen and unseen, who are your support. Trust that these attachments that hold the web of your intent are strong in their fragility; should they break or be shifted by winds or storms or other beings passing through, the supporting strands will be reconnected - the web sheltered and safe, a secure place for nourishment to be received."
Spider´s webs are everywhere in the harvest season. She reminds us that we harness our feminine power through the web of our conscious intent, gathering nourishment and support. Spider balances the insect population that would otherwise overrun the earth - a reminder of her sacred role in releasing what is out of balance in our lives. As harvest ends, we clear dusty cobwebs from our lives and allow a clear space for new webs of purpose to be spun.
Let us honor Spider in her physical form, releasing her presence from areas that are not suitable for her webs with respect and nonviolence... Let us be mindful of her role as Keeper of the web of our purpose.
Thought Woman Spins and Life is Created
Sussistinnako is another name for Thought Woman or Spider Woman. She is a creator for the pueblo tribes, spinning the web-of-life from the four directions. Weaving magical charms and dream catchers, she traps visions in her web. She can create life and influence fate with her pure thoughts.
I think I am going to spin further on these thoughts but it has been really obvious also from my recent posts that I am in the act of cleaning and letting go old junk in my life, making place for the NEW.
Another very attractive aspect and reminder is that I actually am the creator of my own life/fate/destiny and if I have a pure and strong intention, it actually can materialize... eventually... how could I forgot that?
OK, I gotta go, I have some serious spinning to do! ;)
